Research Affiliation

Each year, scholars from around the world visit CBS to undertake research for their graduate, post-graduate, or independent projects. CBS offers the unique opportunity to benefit from the rich resources of a vibrant monastic institution of learning as well as a broad community of western-trained scholars. Research affiliation is offered through Kathmandu University.

Affiliated researchers must have at least a Master degree and must be researching a topic that fits with CBS’s mission as an academic institution, supporting study of and research in the Buddhist tradition, particularly the Indo-Tibetan Buddhist tradition.

Affiliated researchers must submit a progress report at the end of their research year. Affiliated researchers are invited to present their research at RYI in the form of a lecture or workshop and to submit a copy of their published articles to the RYI library.

Research affiliations are granted for a period of one year and can be extended on a yearly basis.
