Past Symposiums
Since 2002, the Rangjung Yeshe Institute (RYI) has hosted international symposia dedicated to exploring a wide array of themes within Buddhist Studies, creating a platform that merges modern academic discourse with traditional monastic insights. Each symposium has its own unique focus, ranging from the philosophical to the practical aspects of Buddhism, with renowned scholars and respected senior teachers from monastic traditions contributing to the dialogue.
Past symposia have featured titles such as “Reflections on Buddhist Tantric Poetry” in 2023, “Transnational Buddhism: Philosophical, Historical, and Anthropological Perspectives” in 2017, and “Dharma and the Academy: Critical Reasoning about Faith, Doctrine, and Practice” in 2014. This blend of contemporary academic scholarship and centuries-old monastic knowledge fosters an enriching environment, allowing participants to engage with Buddhism in its full depth and complexity, highlighting the tradition’s multifaceted nature across historical, cultural, and philosophical dimensions.
