Town Hall & Discussion with Prof. Diane Denis

On February 11, Prof. Diane Denis shared highlights from a recent research trip initiated by Swosti Kayastha to the Bihar Museum and the Patna Museum, undertaken in search of a rare Sanskrit manuscript once collected by the renowned Indian scholar and Tibetologist Rahul Sankrityayan, who traveled extensively in Tibet in the 1930s.

What began as a manuscript inquiry unfolded into a meaningful dialogue with museum staff and directors, revealing unexpected possibilities for collaboration between RYI and the Bihar Museum in the areas of research, preservation, and Himalayan studies. This talk offered an overview of the journey, the collections explored and those unexplored, and the promising avenues for academic partnership that emerged along the way, including in May for the RYI Art Exhibit.
