Moondil Jahan, Class of 2022

“It is with great honor and sincere gratitude that I would like to share that on June 3rd 2022, I graduated with summa cum laude (M.A. in Buddhist Studies) from Kathmandu University (Nepal). It has been a phenomenal journey! I am truly thankful for all the warm encouragement and kind help that I have received in the past few years from many individuals and various organizations. Earnest gratitude to Prof. Diane Denis for being an excellent supervisor, extraordinary instructor, and a very supportive mentor. Heartfelt appreciation to my external examiner Prof. Christoph Emmrich (University of Toronto) for genuinely caring about my thesis work and enriching the reviews and discussions with brilliant insights. In fact, I am immensely grateful to all my teachers and mentors, academic and beyond, who continue to inspire and guide me. I am sincerely thankful for the South Asian and Himalayan Scholarship (RYI/Khyentse Foundation) to aid my educational expenses at RYI. I am truly thankful to my alma mater Berea College for granting me a very generous fund through McNutt scholarship (Religion Department) to cover my living expenses during the M.A. studies in Nepal. I am also very much indebted to The Aseemkala Initiative for assigning me as one of their board members, thereby allowing me to collaborate with professionals from diverse fields of interest such as narrative medicine, study and practices of traditional/indigenous arts, and so forth.

many thanks,

Moon”
