Bodhicitta and the Perfection of Wisdom: A Teaching by Rinpoche
On April 9, following our ongoing Bodhicaryāvatāra Chapter 9: Wisdom classes, Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche made a surprise visit and offered a short, impromptu teaching to the students. His words of guidance provided profound inspiration and encouragement, deepening the day’s study with a lived expression of the teachings. Emphasizing the important role of bodhicitta on the path to awakening, Rinpoche reminded us that all noble qualities can be accomplished through its power. He highlighted that while a bodhisattva may appear modest in seeking personal gain, they possess fearless courage in working for the benefit of others.

In order to realize the wisdom of emptiness, he stressed the need for consistent training in the first five pāramitās—generosity, discipline, patience, diligence, and meditative concentration—as these purify obscurations and create the conditions for wisdom to arise naturally. True realization, he noted, does not come from intellectual understanding alone but through the genuine application of bodhicitta in daily life. His teaching served as a vivid reminder that just as fire needs fuel, the fire of wisdom is ignited and sustained through diligent practice.
