CLAN 102 : Buddhist Literary Chinese II

This course focuses on applying the principles of Buddhist Literary Chinese grammar learned in Buddhist Literary Chinese I, and on building vocabulary and reading skills in the context of studying excerpts from Chinese Buddhist texts. Students are introduced to examples of translated Indian texts from several Buddhist literary genres, including texts from the “three baskets” of teachings; Sutra, Abhidharma and Vinaya. Assessments include quizzes, exams and evaluation of class participation.
