CLAN 202 : Buddhist Literary Chinese IV

This course builds upon the foundation of the previous three courses in Buddhist Literary Chinese, and continues with readings from a variety of genres of Buddhist philosophy and practice, including short texts and excerpts from texts such as the Blue Cliff Records, and the Platform Sutra. Discussion of the methodology and principles for translating Buddhist Chinese texts is more formalized in this course, while building on previous discussions. Assessments include homework assignments, quizzes, exams, classroom participation, and translations.
